In 2017, US Soccer changed the youth soccer age groups from a School Year (Aug-Jul) to the Calendar Year (Jan-Dec). This measure was meant to bring US Soccer in line with FIFA and most every other federation in the world. On November 22, 2024, US Soccer voted to change youth soccer age groups back to the School Year. This change will take effect in the Fall of 2025.
This universal change applies to all youth soccer state associations, organizations, leagues and clubs. South Carolina Youth Soccer and all of its affiliated clubs must comply.
We wanted to let our membership know that BRSC has been discussing and anticipating this change and has analyzed how it may affect our team formation and coaching assignments going forward. Although there will be change, the over-riding player development philosophy and practices of Bluffton Rush SC will remain intact.
As a Club, we look at every player placement and team formation decision through only one lens - What Is in the Best Interest of each Individual Player. The development of each of our players is paramount to all other considerations. We simply ask, "How can we help this player achieve their own personal excellence?"
Discussions among the Senior Staff and the Coaching Staff will continue through the months leading up to our Tryouts in May. We have prepared for this change and will remain, above all else, committed to our Core Values and our quest to give each player the finest youth soccer experience in the Lowcountry.
